عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تَرْتَدُوا الصَّمَّاءَ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَلَا يَأْكُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَلَا يَمْشِ فِي نَعْلٍ وَاحِدٍ وَلَا يَحْتَبِي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not tie a knot in a single garment, and none of you should eat with his left hand, nor walk with one shoe, nor sit with knees drawn up in a single garment.

Benefits: … The explanation of “ishtimal as-samma’” and “tying the lower garment” has already been given above. Eating with the left hand and walking in one shoe have been prohibited, because both of these are habits of Shaytan:
