Nafi’ narrates that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) heard the sound of a shepherd’s flute, so he put his fingers in his ears and moved his mount off the path and went far away. (After going some distance) he said: O Nafi’! Are you still hearing the sound? He replied: Yes. So he kept walking until I said that now the sound is no longer audible. Then he lowered his hands and brought his mount back onto the path and said: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do the same when he heard the sound of a shepherd’s flute.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … To avoid the sound of a flute, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and, following him, the Companions radi Allahu anhum adopted a particular approach, whereas we, under the pretext of electronic media, have become entangled in countless distractions. Merely under the excuse of children's cartoons, extremely disliked sounds are being raised in our homes. At weddings, we reach the height of shamelessness and insensitivity. What will become of us?
