عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَتْبَعُ حَمَامَةً فَقَالَ شَيْطَانٌ يَتْبَعُ شَيْطَانَةً
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man chasing a pigeon. He said: "A devil is running after a she-devil."
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Pigeon racing, quail fighting, and cockfighting, etc., are all unlawful occupations. However, if these birds are kept for the purpose of trade, and their buying and selling is done for consumption, and such birds are caught by hunting, then it is permissible.
