Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take bad omens. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to enter a town, he would ask its name. If its name was good, happiness would be seen on his face, and if its name was not good, dislike would be seen on his (peace and blessings be upon him) face. And when he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent someone as a governor, he would ask his name. If his name was good, happiness would be seen on the face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and if his name was not good, dislike would also be seen on his face.
