عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ وَأَيُّوبَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَامَ حَتَّى سُمِعَ لَهُ غَطِيطٌ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ، فَقَالَ عِكْرِمَةُ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَحْفُوظًا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sleep in such a way that the sound of his snoring could be heard, then he would stand up and perform prayer without performing ablution. Ikrimah said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was protected.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The sleep of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was not a nullifier of ablution (wudu) for him, because during sleep, the heart of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam remained awake.
