Hadith 7742

Syedna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was asked about nushrah. He (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: "It is a satanic act."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... Nashrah. This was a method of treatment or an incantation (dum) through which a person afflicted by jinn would be treated, and he would recover from it. This was also done by means of magic, or it would be some unclear, hidden speech; therefore, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) declared it to be a satanic incantation. If the treatment of this illness is done through supplications (wazā’if) from the Qur’an and Sunnah, then it is permissible.
