Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I was with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when a Bedouin man came and said: O Messenger of Allah! My brother is in distress. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What distress does he have? He said: He is overcome by a state of madness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bring him to me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated him in front of him and recited Surah Al-Fatihah, the first four verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, the two verses with {وَإِلَہُکُمْ إِلٰہٌ وَاحِدٌ}, Ayat al-Kursi, the last three verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, verse {شَہِدَ اللّٰہُ أَنَّہُ لَا إِلٰہَ إِلَّا ہُوَ} of Surah Aal-e-Imran, verse {إِنَّ رَبَّکُمْ اللّٰہُ الَّذِی خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ} of Surah Al-A'raf, the end of Surah Al-Mu’minun {فَتَعَالَی اللّٰہُ الْمَلِکُ الْحَقُّ}, verse {وَأَنَّہُ تَعَالٰی جَدُّ رَبِّنَا} of Surah Al-Jinn, the first ten verses of Surah As-Saffat, the last three verses of Surah Al-Hashr, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas, and performed ruqyah (spiritual healing) with them. After this ruqyah, the man stood up as if he had never had any distress.
