Sayyiduna Umair, the freed slave of Abi Al-Lahm, says: I presented to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a ruqyah (incantation) which I used to recite during the days of ignorance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remove such-and-such phrases and sentences from it, and then whatever words remain, perform ruqyah with them. Muhammad bin Zaid says: I found him in such a state that he used to perform ruqyah on mad people with this ruqyah.
