Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Amr bin Hazm (may Allah be pleased with him) was called in Madinah to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for a woman who had been bitten by a snake, but he refused to perform ruqyah. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of this, he called him and he said: O Messenger of Allah! You have prohibited ruqyah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite the words of this ruqyah before me. So when he recited those words, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no harm in them, these are firm things, perform ruqyah with them.
