Sayyida Umm al-Mundhir bint Qays Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, and with him was Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who had just recovered (from an illness). There were some half-ripe dates, some were ripe, and some were hanging. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to eat them, and Sayyiduna Ali also stood up to eat, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to stop him by saying: Stop, for the weakness of the illness still remains. So he stopped. I prepared a dish of barley and beetroot and brought it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ali! Eat this food, (it is more beneficial for you). So both of them ate that food.
