Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I was present when a man from the tribe of Khath'am, whose name was Suwaid bin Tariq, asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about alcohol. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from it. He said: Can we use it as medicine? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: It is itself a disease.
