Hadith 7603

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that the knife be sharpened and kept hidden from the animals, and also said that when any of you slaughters an animal, he should do so quickly.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … What is meant by hastening the slaughter is that the animal should not be slaughtered in such a manner that it is subjected to unnecessary suffering. For example, keeping the animal lying down for a long time, or moving the knife very slowly while cutting the throat. The experts in slaughtering understand this issue well.
