Hadith 7601

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about hunting, which I hunt (but I do not have any tool with which I can slaughter it), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shed its blood with whatever you wish, and mention the name of Allah over it, and eat it.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From the statements of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) related to the translation of the chapter heading, it is understood that reciting "Bismillah" at the time of slaughtering an animal is obligatory, and an animal slaughtered in the name of anyone other than Allah is unlawful (haram).
