Sayyiduna Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade throwing pebbles. One of his nephews took a pebble and was told about this, yet he threw it. Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I see that I have informed you that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this, and yet you are throwing pebbles. I firmly resolve that as long as I live, I will not speak to you.
