Narrated from Sayyiduna Tariq bin Suwayd Hazrami (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! In our land there are grapes, we squeeze them (to make wine) and then drink it." You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." I repeated my statement, you (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." I said: "We seek cure for the sick through it." You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, it is not a cure, rather it is itself a disease."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Ibn Arabi said: What we have observed is that drinking wine gives health and strength, but the answer to this is that this is respite and gradual enticement (istidraj), or it may be said that in reality, a remedy (dawā’) is that which corrects the body and does not corrupt the religion. If, because of it, there is corruption in religion, then its harm and illness will be considered predominant.
