Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever drinks alcohol, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days. If he repents, Allah Almighty accepts his repentance. If he returns to drinking alcohol, I do not know whether it was the third or fourth time that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If he drinks alcohol again, it is incumbent upon Allah to make him drink from the mud of khabal. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the mud of khabal? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is the pus of the inhabitants of Hell.
