Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever drinks wine and becomes intoxicated, his prayers will not be accepted for forty days. If he drinks wine again and becomes intoxicated, his prayers will not be accepted for forty days. On the third or fourth time, he said: If he drinks wine, his prayers will not be accepted for forty days. If he repents, Allah Almighty does not accept his repentance, and it is incumbent upon Allah to make him drink from the spring of Khabal. Someone asked: What is the spring of Khabal? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is the pus of the people of Hell.
