Hadith 7517

It is narrated from Abu Hakam, he says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the ruling regarding nabidh made in a pitcher. He said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking nabidh made in a pitcher and in a vessel made from gourd. And whoever likes that he should declare unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have declared unlawful, then he should also declare nabidh unlawful. Abu Hakam says: I also asked Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking nabidh from a vessel made from gourd and from a pitcher. He says: Then I asked Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he stated that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the use of vessels made from gourd and vessels coated with tar. And he says: My brother narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the use of pitchers, vessels made from gourd, and vessels coated with tar, and also forbade making nabidh by mixing unripe dates with ripe dates.
