It is narrated from Zadhan, he says: I said to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): Tell us about those vessels which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade, since there is a difference between our language and yours, so explain it in our dialect. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: He forbade the use of hantam, which is called a pitcher; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the use of muzaffat, which is a vessel coated with tar; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the use of dubba’, which is made from a gourd; and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the use of naqir, which is a vessel made by hollowing out the trunk of a date-palm. I said: Then in what should we drink beverages? He said: From skins (waterskins). The words of the narrator Muhammad bin Ja’far are: And he commanded us to prepare nabidh in waterskins.
