Thabit Banani says: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) whether drinking nabidh made in a pitcher was prohibited. He said: That is what people think. I asked: Whose opinion is this? Is it the opinion of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: People think that it has been prohibited. I said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! Did you hear this from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: People think so. That day, Allah Almighty caused him to overlook me, otherwise, whenever anyone asked him whether he had heard something from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he would become angry and would shake the questioner harshly.
