It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I performed ablution for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during a journey. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his face and arms, then wiped his head and also wiped over his socks. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Should I not remove your socks? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, when I put them on my feet were clean, and since then I have not walked barefoot. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Fajr prayer.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … My feet were pure. That is, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was in a state of ablution (wudu). After that, I have not walked barefoot until now. These words indicate that for it to be permissible to wipe (masah) over the socks (khuffayn) that were worn in a state of ablution, it is necessary that they have not been removed afterwards.
