عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ نَزَعَ خُفَّيْهِ فَنَظَرُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: أَمَا إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَيْهِمَا وَلَكِنِّي حُبِّبَ إِلَيَّ الْوُضُوءُ
Ali bin Mudrik says: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) take off his socks. When people looked at him with an eye of objection, he said: Beware! I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his socks, but I prefer to wash my feet.
