Hadith 7349

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, O Messenger of Allah! We live in a region where hunger prevails, what is permissible for us from the dead animals? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you find nothing to eat in the morning, nor in the evening, and you do not find any vegetables, then you may eat the dead animal.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: {اِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَیْکُمُ الْمَیَتَۃَ وَالدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ الْخِنْزِیْرِ وَمَا اُھِلَّ بِہٖ لِغَیْرِ اللّٰہِ فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ غَیْرَ بَاغٍ وَّلَا عَادٍ فَلَا اِثْمَ عَلَیْہِ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِیْمٌ۔} … “Forbidden to you (for food) are carrion (dead meat), blood (that has been poured forth), the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is compelled (by necessity), neither desiring it nor transgressing (the limit), there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surah al-Baqarah: 173)
