Hadith 7314

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُحِلَّتْ لَنَا مَيْتَتَانِ وَدَمَانِ فَأَمَّا الْمَيْتَتَانِ فَالْحُوتُ وَالْجَرَادُ فَأَمَّا الدَّمَانِ فَالْكَبِدُ وَالطِّحَالُ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Two dead animals and two types of blood have been made lawful for us; the two dead animals are fish and locusts, and the two types of blood are liver and spleen.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From these ahadith it is understood that fish and locusts are not only lawful (halal), but even their dead (carrion) is lawful. This is a great concession (rukhsah) from Allah Ta'ala.
