Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to him while he was eating chicken meat. The man separated himself and did not eat that food. When Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him, he said: I have sworn an oath not to eat it, because I saw that it eats filth. Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Come near and eat it, for I have seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) eating chicken meat.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The chicken is a lawful (halal) and desirable animal. If a lawful (halal) animal eats something impure or the meat of a forbidden (haram) animal, this does not affect its lawfulness (halal status).
