It is narrated from Namila Fazari, he says: I was with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), he was asked about the ruling of the porcupine, in response he recited this verse: {قُلْلَآأَجِدُفِیمَاأُوحِیَإِلَیَّمُحَرَّمًا … } … Say: I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it unless it be carrion, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine—for that surely is impure—or a sinful offering over which any name other than Allah’s has been invoked. An elder sitting with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) say that the porcupine was mentioned in the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said about it: It is one of the impure animals among the impure animals. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: If the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said this about it, then it is as he has said.
