It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: When a Muslim spends on his wife with the intention of reward, it becomes charity for him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Spending on one’s wife is not merely a burden, rather it is a right imposed by Allah Ta’ala and His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). One should strive to fulfill it properly. According to one’s ability, and in accordance with custom and societal norms, one should take care of the wife’s clothing, food, and her needs in times of happiness and sorrow, and one should not remind her of the favor of having spent on her. In return, the wife should also be mindful of fulfilling the rights of the husband.
