Hadith 7145

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the health of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became heavy and his illness intensified, he (peace and blessings be upon him) sought permission from his wives that he wished to spend the days of his illness in my house, so they granted him permission.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Whoever has contracted more than one marriage, it is obligatory upon him to maintain justice between them. The command of Allah, the Exalted, is: {وَاِنْ خِفْتُمْ اَلَّا تُقْسِطُوْا فِی الْیَتٰمٰی فَانْکِحُوْا مَا طَابَ لَکُمْ مِّنَ النِّسَآئِ مَثْنٰی وَ ثُلٰثَ وَ رُبٰعَ فَاِنْ خِفْتُمْ اَلَّا تَعْدِلُوْا فَوَاحِدَۃً اَوْ مَا مَلَکَتْ اَیْمَانُکُمْ ذٰلِکَ اَدْنٰٓی اَلَّا تَعُوْلُوْا} (an-Nisa: 3) "If you fear that you will not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice]." Justice among multiple wives is such an important matter that Allah, the Exalted, due to the fear of not being able to maintain equality, has commanded [the option of] one wife or a slave woman. There may be a greater natural inclination towards one wife, but this should not affect the requirements of justice and fairness.
