Sayyidah Judamah bint Wahb Asadiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I intended to prohibit ghilah, but then I remembered that the Persians and Romans practice ghilah and it does not harm their children in any way.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The reason for the intention of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was that perhaps the nursing child might be harmed by it. Medical experts say that such milk is diseased, and the Arabs used to dislike this practice and would avoid it. However, when the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) observed that the people of Persia and Rome were not being harmed by ghilah, he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not prohibit his ummah from doing so.
