Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: The food of the wedding feast (walimah) is the worst food, in which the rich are invited and the poor are left out, although it is a rightful invitation; whoever leaves it has disobeyed. The words of the narrator Mu’ammar are: Whoever did not accept the invitation has disobeyed Allah Almighty and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This narration is mawquf (attributed to a Companion), while the narration in Sahih Muslim which is marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) has the following words:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “The worst food is the food of a wedding feast (walimah); those who wish to come to it are prevented, and those who refuse to come are invited. Whoever does not accept the invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.” (Sahih Muslim: 2586)
Imam Nawawi said: In this hadith, information is being given about something that has become widespread among people: at wedding feasts (walimah), wealthy people are given protocol, they are especially invited, and good foods are prepared for them, and they are given preference over other needy people. In most wedding feasts, this is what happens.
