It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a marriage proposal to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: After marriage, a wedding feast (walimah) is necessary. Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will give a sheep. Another said: I will give such and such amount of corn.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The noble Companions (Sahabah) were those who would hasten towards acts of righteousness and were helpers to one another in such matters, just as Allah the Exalted has said: {وَتَعَاوَنُوْاعَلَیالْبِرِّوَالتَّقْوٰی} … “And cooperate with one another in righteousness and piety.” (Surah al-Ma’idah: 2)
