Narrated from Sayyidah Maymunah bint Kardam (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) riding a she-camel in Makkah and I was with my father. In the hand of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was a whip, like the one used by those who teach writing. I heard the villagers and other people saying: Beware of the sound of the whip, "tab" (i.e., beware of the whip). My father approached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and held his blessed foot. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept his foot in place. I will never forget the length of the index finger of your foot compared to the other toes. My father said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): I was present in the army of ‘Ashran. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recognized that army. Tariq bin Murqa’ said: Who will give me a spear in exchange for cloth? I will reward him for it. I said: What will be the reward? He said: I will marry to him my first daughter who is born. I gave him the spear and left it with him until a daughter was born to him and then she reached maturity. I went to him and said: Prepare my wife for me. He said: No, by Allah! I will not prepare her for you until you mention a dowry for her besides that spear. I swore that I would not do so. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: How old is she? I said: She has reached old age. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Leave her, there is no good in it. This made me anxious. I looked towards him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Neither have you sinned because of the oath, nor has your companion.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar radi Allahu anhu, who says: "A man came to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and said: 'I have found a woman of lineage and status, but she does not bear children. Should I marry her?' He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade him. Then he came a second time, and he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade him. Then he came a third time, and he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam forbade him and said: 'Marry women who are loving and fertile, for indeed I will boast of your numbers.'” (Abu Dawud: 2050, Nasa'i: 3229)
The purpose of marriage is not merely the fulfillment of desire, but also to have children. However, marriage is permissible for the sake of mutual support, but this generally occurs at an older age. A young man should marry a healthy woman.
