Benefits: … One meaning is clear: just as an immoral man marries only an immoral woman like himself, the same applies to an immoral woman; its meaning is that if a man's adultery (zina) has become public, no chaste woman should marry him, and similarly, if a woman's immorality has become exposed, no chaste man should marry her. The second meaning is that immoral men seek out immoral women like themselves, and likewise, immoral women are attracted only to immoral men.

There is a saying that the parents of a blind boy went to the house of a girl to ask for her hand in marriage and spoke to her parents. They said: "Our daughter is perfectly fine in every respect, except that she is 'chashm-e-gul'." In response, the boy's family said: "That is not an issue at all, because our boy is also 'bilkul'." The point is that just as 'chashm-e-gul' (one-eyed) is destined for 'bilkul' (completely blind), so is the matter of chaste and immoral men and women. (By 'chashm-e-gul' is meant a girl who is deprived of one eye.)
