Hadith 7007

عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا شِغَارَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no Shighar in Islam.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The definition of shighar has already been mentioned at the beginning of the chapter. The important point to understand is that the essence of shighar is the condition of exchanging one girl for another. If, by coincidence, the dowry (mahr) is mentioned, it does not make any difference, especially since in our country the dowry no longer holds any real significance.

However, if a man marries off a girl under his guardianship to another man without stipulating any reciprocal marriage condition, and later, by chance, the second man decides to give a girl in marriage to the first man and a second marriage takes place, then this is neither shighar nor is there any prohibition regarding it.
