عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يُجْمَعَ ب_disconnectَيْنَ الْعَمَّةِ وَالْخَالَةِ وَبَيْنَ الْعَمَّتَيْنِ وَالْخَالَتَيْنِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that a niece and paternal aunt, or a niece and maternal aunt, be joined together in one marriage.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Through the phrase "and between the two paternal aunts and the two maternal aunts," the subject matter of the previous sentence has been reiterated. By way of predominance (taghlib), the paternal aunt and the paternal niece are referred to as "‘ammatayn," and the maternal aunt and the maternal niece are referred to as "khalatayn."
