Hadith 6899

عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَمُجَمِّعٍ ابْنَيْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ عَنْ خَنْسَاءَ بِنْتِ خِذَامٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ أَبَاهَا زَوَّجَهَا وَهِيَ كَارِهَةٌ وَكَانَتْ ثَيِّبًا فَرَدَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نِكَاحَهُ
Narrated from Sayyidah Khansa bint Khidam (may Allah be pleased with her) that her father married her to someone whom she disliked, while she had previously been widowed. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) annulled her marriage.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Whether the woman is a widow or a virgin, her consent is necessary for marriage; in this matter, she absolutely cannot be coerced. The consent of the woman is a condition for marriage; otherwise, the marriage will be invalid.
