Hadith 6851

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked: "Which woman is the best?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: "She is the one who, when her husband looks at her, pleases him; and when he commands her, she obeys him; and she does not oppose him in that which he dislikes regarding herself and his wealth."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Without harmony between husband and wife, society cannot remain peaceful, and if both have equal status, the possibility of harmony is very low. Therefore, the wife has been made subordinate to the husband, because the superiority of man—in fact, of the male—is established both by nature and by practice. Thus, the best wife is she who remains obedient to her husband so that society can become like paradise. In those societies where the status of men and women is equal, social unrest and marital discord are widespread.
