Hadith 6838

Narrated by Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both): A young man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Will you permit me to be castrated? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Observe fasting and ask Allah Almighty for His bounty.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This is a very beautiful answer. The absence of means for something at present does not mean that a person should permanently deprive himself of that thing. He should make temporary arrangements to control himself and ask Allah Ta’ala for His grace. Fasting (sawm) is, in its own right, a permanent act of worship, but for an unmarried person, it is a temporary arrangement to control desire.
