بَابُ النَّهْي عَنْ اِثْيَانِ الْكَاهِنِ أَوِ الْعَرَّافِ وَوَعِيدِ مَنْ أَنَاهُ وَصَدَّقَهُChapter: Prohibition of Going to a Soothsayer or Fortune-Teller and the Threat to One Who Does and Believes Him
Hadith 6815

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((مَنْ أَتَى كَاهِنًا أَوْ عَرَّافًا فَصَدَّقَهُ بِمَا يَقُولُ فَقَدْ كَفَرَ بِمَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah and Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever goes to a soothsayer or a fortune-teller and affirms what he says, has disbelieved in that which was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The difference between a kāhin and an ‘arrāf is that a kāhin is one who seeks knowledge of future incidents and events, while an ‘arrāf is one who gives information about the location of stolen or lost items and claims knowledge of various matters through different means.
