Hadith 6809

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three types of people will not enter Paradise: one who persists in drinking alcohol, one who severs ties of kinship, and one who affirms magic. And whoever dies in the state that he persists in drinking alcohol, Allah Almighty will make him drink from the river of Ghuta.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Imam Nawawi said: The practice of magic is forbidden (haram) and it is among the major sins (kabirah), and there is consensus and agreement of the Muslims on this matter. At times, it constitutes disbelief (kufr), and at other times, it is a sin (ma‘siyah). If the statement uttered or the action performed in it is disbelief, then the magician becomes a disbeliever (kafir), and if the act is not disbelief, then he is considered a transgressor (fasiq) and disobedient. In any case, both teaching it and learning it are forbidden (haram).

Hadith number (6809) is narrated here in brief; the complete narration will come in “Kitab al-Ashribah.” In that, the clarification of the river of Ghutah is given.
