It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man intoxicated with wine was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet enforced the prescribed punishment upon him and asked: "From what was your wine prepared?" He replied: "From dried grapes and dates." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Each of these suffices in place of the other."
