(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَ جُلِدَ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْخَمْرِ بِنَعْلَيْنِ أَرْبَعِينَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ زَمَنُ عُمَرَ جُلِدَ بَدَلَ كُلِّ نَعْلٍ سَوْطًا
(In another narration) During the blessed era of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the punishment for drinking alcohol was administered with two sandals, amounting to forty strikes. When the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began, he replaced each sandal strike with a lash.
