It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who had drunk alcohol. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beat him." Then some of us beat him with our hands, some with their shoes, and some with their clothes. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was finished, a man said: "May Allah disgrace you." But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not say this. Do not help Satan against him. Rather, say: May Allah have mercy on you."
