It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that a slave woman of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) committed adultery, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to carry out the prescribed punishment on her. But when I went to her, I found her in such a state that her postnatal bleeding had not yet stopped. I returned to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of the situation. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When her bleeding stops, then carry out the punishment on her. Carry out the prescribed punishments on your slaves as well.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … If the punishment is flogging, then the patient should be waited upon until he recovers. In "al-Bahr," consensus (ijma‘) has been transmitted that due to extreme heat, severe cold, or the likelihood of an impending illness, a virgin fornicator (zani) offender will be granted respite, until the severity of the season passes and the danger of illness is averted.
If, according to circumstances, respite can be granted to a virgin fornicator, then the permissibility of such respite should also apply to the married offender. There is no Shar‘i (legal) evidence for any distinction. (Abdullah Rafiq)
