It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when a woman from the tribe of Ghamid came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery and I want you to purify me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: Go back. She came again the next day and confessed to adultery before you, saying: O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery and I want you to purify me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go back. The next day she came again and confessed to adultery before you and said: O Prophet of Allah! Purify me, perhaps you want to send me back just as you sent Ma'iz bin Malik back. By Allah! I am also pregnant because of adultery. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go back until you give birth to the child. So when she gave birth to the child, she came carrying the child and said: O Prophet of Allah! I have given birth to the child. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go back and nurse him until you wean him. When she had weaned him, she brought the child, and in his hand was a piece of bread, and she said: O Prophet of Allah! I have weaned him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that the child be entrusted to a Muslim man, and regarding the woman, he ordered that a pit be dug for her and she be buried in it up to her chest, then he ordered the people to stone her. Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) came with a stone and struck her on the head, and when blood splattered on his cheek, he cursed her. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that he was cursing her, he said: Khalid! Stop, do not curse her. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, she has repented such a repentance that if a tax collector were to repent like this, he would also be forgiven. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered regarding her, then he offered her funeral prayer and she was buried.
