Hadith 6652

Narrated by Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: Do not enter upon those women whose husbands are not present, for indeed Satan circulates within you like blood. We said: O Messenger of Allah! Does such a Satan also have a connection with you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He was also with me, but Allah Almighty helped me against him, so he became obedient to me.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In Sahih Muslim (2171), the wording of the narration reported from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah radi Allahu anhu is as follows: “Beware! No man should spend the night with a woman who has previously been married, except if he is her husband or a mahram (unmarriageable kin).”

Compared to virgins and unmarried women, it is somewhat easier for married women to be enticed towards wrongdoing; in them, the demands of modesty become somewhat relaxed, and there is also the possibility of the fault remaining concealed. The case of a widow is also of this kind. Therefore, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam specifically forbade sitting with or spending the night with such women. Otherwise, it is prohibited to be in seclusion (khalwah) with any non-mahram woman, let alone spending the night.
