It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions: "What do you say about adultery?" They said: "Allah Almighty and His Messenger have declared it forbidden, and it is forbidden until the Day of Resurrection." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For a man to commit adultery with ten women is a lesser crime than committing adultery with his neighbor's wife." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Well, what is your opinion about theft?" They said: "Allah Almighty and His Messenger have declared it forbidden, so it is forbidden." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For a man to steal from ten houses is a lesser crime than stealing from his neighbor's house."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … A neighbor has good expectations of his neighbor and assumes that his neighbor is a protector of his honor. On the other hand, Allah Ta’ala and His Messenger have stated many rights of the neighbor. When a person violates all these boundaries, then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam describes his crime as being even more than tenfold.
