It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Uhud, the swords of the Muslims struck Sayyiduna Iman (may Allah be pleased with him), while they did not recognize him, so they killed him. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wished to pay his blood money, but Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) gave that blood money as charity to the Muslims.
Benefits: … On the occasion of the Battle of Uhud, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam left Sayyiduna Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu’s father, Sayyiduna Yaman radi Allahu anhu, and Sayyiduna Thabit bin Waqsh radi Allahu anhu behind to protect the women and children. Both of them were very old, but they consulted with each other and, out of eagerness for martyrdom, reached the battlefield. However, this was at the time when the Muslims were facing defeat. Sayyiduna Thabit radi Allahu anhu was killed by the polytheists, and Sayyiduna Yaman radi Allahu anhu came under attack from the Muslims and was martyred. In reality, the Muslims had not recognized him.
