Hadith 658

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who use the toothpick are very good." Someone asked: "Who are meant by those who use the toothpick?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who use the toothpick during ablution and after eating."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … However, the initial words of this narration are authentic, as is evident from the following narration: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik radi Allahu anhu that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((How excellent are those of my Ummah who perform khilal.)) … Very good are those people of my Ummah who perform khilal (interlacing or cleaning between the fingers). (Al-Mu‘jam al-Awsat of Tabarani: 1/39, Sahihah: 2567) It is thus understood that during ablution (wudu), when washing the hands and feet, one should perform khilal of their fingers—by interlacing the fingers of the hands with each other, and by performing khilal of the toes with the little finger.
