It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Waraqah bint Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit her every Friday. One day I said: O Messenger of Allah! Will you permit me on the day of Badr so that I may also go with you and tend to the sick and treat the wounded? Perhaps Allah Almighty will grant me martyrdom as well? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remain in your house, Allah Almighty will grant you martyrdom.
Sayyida Umm Waraqah (may Allah be pleased with her) had freed a male and a female slave after her death. When this period seemed long to both of them, they covered her with a sheet until she passed away and both of them fled. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was informed that Umm Waraqah had been killed by her male and female slaves and they had fled, he stood among the people and said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit Sayyida Umm Waraqah (may Allah be pleased with her). Then he said: Come, let us visit this martyred woman. Such-and-such female slave and such-and-such male slave covered her and killed her and then fled themselves. No one should give them shelter; rather, whoever finds them should bring them to me. So both of them were brought and they were crucified. These were the first two individuals in Islam who were crucified.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyiduna Umar radi Allahu anhu, in the presence of the noble Companions, took retribution (qisas) from two individuals for the murder of one slain person. Similarly, there is another narration: Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib says: "Indeed, Umar ibn al-Khattab radi Allahu anhu killed five or seven people for (the murder of) one man whom they had killed by deception, and Umar said: 'If all the people of Sana‘a had collaborated in this murder, I would have killed them all.'" (Muwatta Imam Malik)
